Having
ridden long before she could walk, Harriet always wanted to be
an event rider and dreamt (and still does!) of competing at
big events such as Badminton and Burghley.
At
the age of 11 Harriet competed in her first pre-novice event
with her 13.2 pony Hot ‘N’ Spicy. In 2005 Harriet was
chosen to represent Great Britain at Necarne Castle in
Ireland, in the CCIJ* with Hot ‘N’ Smart, where
they finished 11th.
In
2006 Harriet was selected to represent Great Britain for a
second time at Avenches in Switzerland with Polvier’s
Harold Spirit, finishing 6th. Following this she was
shortlisted for the Junior team and was invited to the viewing
trails for the World Class Start and Potential Programme. This
is a lottery-funded scheme offering training and support for
riders with the potential to represent Great Britain at
European, World and Olympic level.
In
2007 Harriet went double clear at her first CCI** at Houghton
Hall, and went double clear at Blair Castle CCI**. She was
also short-listed for the young rider team with a horse she
had been competing for only three months.
Harriet
currently has four event horses, Sultao De Valada, Polvier’s
Harold Spirit and Fernhill Utopia. Always on the
look out for talented horses to compete, Harriet is keen to
develop her string and is looking for some very special horses
to join her team.
Harriet
featured in the March 2008 issue of Equestrian
Life magazine, and editor Louise Graham was so
impressed with Harriet’s enthusiasm, dedication and
commitment, she asked her to write a regular monthly column.
Harriet is trained by Oliver
Townend, Yogi Breisner and Micheal Owen, and is available to
teach people of all standards and abilities.
